Have you read any of the books written by Nora Roberts under the pseudo name J D Robb about New York police Lieutenant Eve Dallas set in the year 2060? This series has over 2 dozen books with returning characters that add comic relief to the murder mysteries.
Fifty years from now, Lt. Dallas has a patrol car that goes vertical if she is hampered by city traffic on her way to a crime scene. The car has lots of nifty features like a voice activated auto-pilot.
Eve has a multi-billionaire husband who built a castle of a house with elevators that move up and down and horizontally. Which is good for Eve because, though she has lived in this house for years, she is rarely home long enough to explore and learn her way around.
My favorite part of the house is the shower. She steps in, states her desired temperature and water pressure and has water spraying all around from multiple nozzles. The water is instantly perfect and she has soap and shampoo available at her fingertips from the wall dispensers. Then there’s the drying tube. Ahhhhhh….
Well, we may be a long way from vertical cars but the shower is here! Oh, you have to use a control panel instead of your voice, but we get more voice technology every day.
Kohler can give you the shower of my (your) dreams. You can customize your shower experience with a number of combinations of adjustable nozzles in the walls and ceiling of your shower. There is even a steam feature. If you prefer to soak in a tub, they have sonic vibration for the ultimate relaxing bath that, in the video, attracts a whale.
This isn’t sci-fi. You can have this luxury now. See all the information at
And don’t miss the one about the wireless Blue-tooth speaker in the shower head.
The sinks are as amazing as the shower system. I loooove the vessel sinks. They may sound like a throw back to the days of washstands with a pitcher and bowl but take another look.

One of the new trends in bathroom decor for 2013 is horizontal stripes. This new look is being used in other rooms as well. The wide stripes do not interfere with the room’s other decor and can be a very nice complement to the colors you are using.
Another new idea for this year is using an actual rug in the bathroom instead of bath mats. This may not be very practical in your kids bathroom but for the master bath it can add a touch of elegance.
Open up your bathroom (or seem to) with a faux window. Trees, scenery, animals – whatever you desire to gaze at while you relax can be yours.
Recycled furniture is brought into the bathroom by turning an old dresser into a vanity. Older furniture has a lot of character and is more distinctive than plan cabinets. Add a vessel sink to complete the look.
For a real touch of luxury, bring the fireplace into the bathroom. Relaxing, romantic, warm & cozy. It sure beats my bathroom heater. Enjoy.
